Launching the “Saudi Seasons 2019” Program

The Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH) announced the launching of the “Saudi Seasons 2019” initiative, as an experimental launch this year, where it includes 11 tourism seasons that cover all regions of the Kingdom, in a first step at the regional level.

The “Saudi Seasons 2019” initiative is a result of efforts of several government departments that worked since mid-2018 to launch the initiative under the leadership of a higher committee chaired by HRH Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud – the Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, chairman of the Council for Economic and Development Affairs and chairman of the events’ committee – including: the Ministry of Culture, General Authority for Entertainment, General Sport Authority and the Saudi Exhibition and Convention Bureau, in coordination with all relevant institutions. 

The “Saudi Seasons 2019” program includes several activities that were specially designed to several regions and cities of the Kingdom that enjoy cultural, tourist and historical characteristics for the first year as an experimental test, where the 2020 seasons will be announced at the end of 2019.

The program that has been launched also includes a set of cultural, sports, entertainment and business events, in addition to the assisting qualitative services, such as accommodation and transportation, which were designed in a way that contributes to building up a comprehensive and enriching experience for visitors, and customized for each of the regions and cities that have been chosen. The experimental phase is aimed at developing the infrastructure preparedness and ensuring of completing the services system to launch the tourism sector. 

The “Saudi Seasons 2019” includes 11 seasons of the Eastern Region Season, Ramadan Season, Eid Al Fitr Season, Jeddah Season, Ta’if Season, Eid Al Adha Season, The National Day Season, Riyadh Season, Diriyah Season, Al-`Ula Season and Ha’il Season. 
 
For his part, His Excellency Ahmad bin Aqil al-Khatib, Chairman of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage, highlighted the centrality of the “Saudi Seasons 2019” in activating the tourism sector, launching the capabilities of relevant sectors and providing temporary and permanent jobs in the sector. He noted that the “Saudi Seasons 2019” is one the programs that aim at raising the living conditions of citizens and building a vital society, especially that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is full of important tourist attractions, including the fascinating natural scenes, the long-standing Arab culture and ancient historical sites and advanced infrastructures, which all will contribute to increasing the domestic expenditure, boosting the economic activity and supporting sectors related to the tourism sector.  

On the other hand, the SCTH announced launching an electronic platform for these seasons that can facilitate procedures for visitors to know about events and book tickets. These platforms will be provided with all necessary information before launching the seasons. 

The Eastern Region Season, scheduled to be launched in mid March 2019, is the first of these experimental seasons.
