The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston (MFAH) was a third American Museum to host the unprecedented exhibition of Saudi Arabian monuments in the United States titled "Roads of Arabia". It was the seventh station internationally for the expo in a tour around the world that began on 18th December, 2013, and ended on 9th March, 2014.
The exhibition showcased more than 227 Arab artifacts, covering a period from the Paleolithic age (one million years BC) up to the emergence of the modern Saudi state.
The exhibition highlighted through its relics, which had been picked along the ancient trade routes, showcasing the importance of the ancient trade routes, that were crisscrossing the Arabian Peninsula, resulting in the cultural exchange between different nations, in addition to shedding light on the evolution of pilgrim routes with the beginning of Islam.
This unprecedented exhibition on Saudi antiquities was firstly hosted in USA by the Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC, while Carnegie Museum in Pennsylvania PA was the second station.
